Quarterly Report: 1 July--30 September 2025

  1. Activities during 3rd Quarter.
    1. Retired Major/Dr Glenn Williams was our guest speaker in September as he talked about the proud warriors of the first militia ever for the 175th Infantry Regiment and its strong lineage to the American Revolution. He talked about the April 1775 Battle of Lexington and Concord and the establishment of the first Continental US Army. In May, we had Ms Cheryl Glang who provided a wealth of information regarding the survivor spouse program and benefits. She recommended a checklist for important estate planning and emphasized what documents to gather and prepare for living wills and trusts. Both events were well attended and received.

    1. Community Activities
        1. MOAA Leadership award was presented by Col (Ret) Frank Hilsher at the Johns Hopkins ceremony.
        2. Frank Hilsher also attended the Johns Hopkins commissioning ceremony for 13 new LT’s on 24 May held at the Star Spangled Banner Flag House and the Loyola & Towson Universities commissioning of 14 LT’s on 23 May on Loyola’s Evergreen Campus. Five Distinguished 2LT’ s received certificates for their performance in the top 20% of all ROTC Cadets nationwide at the Loyola/ Towson ceremony. 
        3. For JROTC-CPT (Ret) John Backer presented the MOAA Leadership Award to a graduating senior cadet at his own Alma Mater, Baltimore Polytechnic Institute on 18 May.
        4. Fundraising for Chapter Charity. A campaign has begun for Paws4Vets. A fundraising event is scheduled for April 20262 at Columbus Gardens, Nottingham, MD.
